About

Stiff magazine is all about that 5am blast down your favourite road, those long hours tweaking your car to make it unique or splashing the cash and getting something seriously sexy. Above all else, it’s all about driving, whatever your horseless carriage. Nothing beats the feeling of driving and enjoying the lifestyle that goes with it.

Each new feature is presented in either an online style magazine article or a movie. All our content is unique and top quality. Whether it’s an Aston Martin or a 800bph drift car, you won’t see our content anywhere else.

So what can you expect? Well, road trips, road tests, product development, project cars, girls, fashion and anything else that embraces the lifestyle of the modern driver.

Founded by Tim Hutton, Stiff was created from the desire to bring good quality content to an audience who can interact with us and get involved too. Using experience gained through other online ventures and his vast experience in the automotive industry Tim will be wringing out all his contacts and talents to deliver great photography and stories from around the world. When not chained to his desk designing and creating, Tim likes to do strange things like ripping out the interior of his car during a regular trip to the local dump. While he swears this has now given him the edge on track days, his long suffering fiancee begs to differ about these ‘improvements’.

When John’s not tapping away at a keyboard, he’s usually reading, driving, playing Xbox or watching a movie. John grew up in the Yorkshire Dales, and knows some of the best driving roads in the country, as well as the best times to drive them without getting stuck behind Prudence in her brown Maestro. He loves Porsche 993s, bikes with tiny engines, and rare steaks. John’s our news editor, but he also likes to keep a personal blog up to date with his views on all things motor related, and to feed his Twitter addiction. He’s currently learning all sorts of things about Multimedia Journalism.

To some Al Clark needs no introduction. His respect in the Drift industry is top dollar, not only that but he has been commissioned to produce video and film content for some of the big hitters in the automotive industry. Al will be bringing super sharp content from the automotive world and producing some mighty fine videos too. Oh and he is a pretty mean driver too. Before you think that he seems normal can we just interject and let you know he has called his car ‘The Hairy Canary’ you can se it sideways at a track day near you soon.

John Marcar joins us to help with all things PR and media, with a motoring and motorsport background it would be fair to say that from a very early age John Marcar has driven, photographed and written about his fair share of cars. Whether it be your regular modern day ’straight off the production line’ hot hatch, to your ‘pre old skool’ bespoke 1930’s bentley, he’s been lucky enough to drive some or the rarest cars, on some of the worlds most inspiring circuits, and being mechanicly minded, he’s not shy of getting under the bonnet too. We’re proud to have him along for the ride.

Producing Stiff magazine is a team effort and we truly appreciate the help we get from those who share our love of motoring in all its magnificent forms.

Sometimes in our haste to impart exciting and important news and views, we forget to press the “does this make sense and is it correct” button. Now we merely prod our honorary consultant David Holmes with the now redundant office letter opener and he casts an editorial eye over the Stiff material.

David is no stranger to motoring matters being a journalist and former motoring correspondent. He obtained his road test credentials at the same lavish new car launches as “Jezza” Clarkson where the golden rules among motoring hacks were: Never co-drive with the denim-clad broadcaster (if you were planning any sort of future) and Never accept a car after Crash Test Clarkson (the bodywork may need serious surgery and the red-hot brake pads required hours to cool). David lives within a sprint start of the legendary Goodwood race track in West Sussex and has attempted most forms of driving including rallying in Wales, high performance track days at a number of UK venues, single seater race cars, and even a compulsory “Safer Driving” course for over enthusiastic company car drivers. For the record he drives a V6 3.2 Audi TT but but give him a break in a conversation and he‘ll bore you Stiff about the great cars he has driven in the past.
